20 Bars and Restaurants to Try in 2020 (part 2)

Can you believe that the 2010’s are over!?! So much has happened in the past decade, and Tampa has changed drastically! There are so many new bars and restaurants that have popped up in the last 10 years, that if you had been living under a rock for the past decade you wouldn’t even recognize the city! Now that we’re in 2020, we aren’t worried about new jobs, going to the gym, or being more organized. We’re making resolutions easy this year. By the end of 2020 make sure you’ve checked out these 20 awesome bars and restaurants in the Tampa area!

11. Gen X Tavern

No photo description available.

Odds are, you have probably already checked out this spot when it first opened. It was so popular in the first couple of months that it was hard to even get into the place on certain nights. Now that the crowds have died down though it the perfect time to go check it out again! If you’ve never been, then make sure you check it out! The bar is known for its 90’s aesthetic and fun atmosphere.  So pick up a NES controller and an adult juice box and relive everybody’s decade… the 90’s!

12. Franklin Manor

Oh yes… good ole Franklin Manor! One thing we love about FM is that you can come out and relax with your friends over some froses one night, and then come out on a Friday or Saturday and be apart of some of the best parties in Tampa! They really know how to give people the best of both worlds here at the Manor. So make sure to pay them a visit and treat yourself to that signature frose!

13. First Chance Last Chance Bar

For us, it really captures the spirit of Ybor City. It feels historic, yet lively and fun. It’s definitely more of a cocktail bar, but has drinks for everyone. If you aren’t into beer, then you can definitely stop into this bar and have an awesome time. Another thing we love about this place is that it’s a little more upscale than some of the other dive bars in Ybor. If you’re looking for the nicer side of Ybor to take someone on a date maybe, definitely take them on over to First Chance Last Chance.

14. Wtr Tampa

What do you get when you mix a pool and and a bar? One of the most fun party spots in Tampa.  Aside from throwing some of the most legendary parties, Wtr has a great pool, private cabanas, and bottle service. If you’ve never been, you’ll want to grab your swimsuit and check it out as soon as possible. Keep an eye out for when they are hosting their themed parties and make sure to check one (or all) of those out too!

15. Remedy at the Riverwalk

This picture really says everything we need to about Remedy. It’s an outdoor bar with an amazing view right in the heart of downtown. This bar is the perfect spot to stop and have a drink after a nice day at Curtis Hixon park. Remedy is located right next to the beer can building downtown, so go check it out and make sure you take some artsy Instagram photos in the courtyard outside while you’re there!

16. M. Bird

If you can manage to avoid the temptation of going to one of the many food and drink spots inside of Armature Works, and you make it to M. Bird, it is a true gem. With one of the best views in the city, and a delicious food and drink menu, the rooftop bar is a perfect spot for a date night. This would also be one of our top choices if you have friends or family from out of town who want a nice dinner spot.

17. Maloney’s

No photo description available.

This stop is for when you’re tired of all the fancy spots in Tampa and you’re ready to just dig in to some delicious burgers and wings! Maloney’s is a somewhat typical Irish pub, but you just can’t find one as good nearby, let alone in right in the middle of Channelside! So if you’re ready for some good old (and pretty inexpensive) comfort food then give Maloney’s a try.

18. Sparkman Wharf

Alright now you might be thinking, “Sparkman Wharf? What’s it doing in this article?” Well before you discredit the article, hear us out. Everybody has probably been to Sparkman Wharf at this point, but have you been lately? The same goes here as it did for Gen X Tavern. The place was a pain to get into when it first opened, but now it’s a great place! The crowds aren’t bad at all, and the food and drinks are still amazing! So it’s time to give Sparkman Wharf another go. You can thank us later.

19. The Sail

Simple, yet wonderful. That’s how we’d describe The Sail.  Another classic in the Tampa area, its always been a great place to go for a drink after a hockey game or if you’re out at a convention. If you’re the type who’s always just passed it by, clear up your schedule for an afternoon and go check it out! There’s nothing better than hanging out and relaxing here at The Sail.

20. Armature Works

Our last and final “must try” location for 2020 is everybody’s favorite, Armature Works! We know there are many different restaurants and bars inside, and that it may seem like a cop out, but we don’t care. Armature Works has become a staple of the the Tampa area. If you ever can’t decide on what to eat or where to go for drinks, Armature Works is always there for you. So even if you’ve already been this year (we’re sure some of you have) make sure to give the place some love and go grab some brunch, lunch, dinner, or dessert!
