5 Quick and Easy Drinks to Make at Home

In case quarantine’s got you all mixed up and you didn’t already know, IT’S FRIDAY!!! While you can’t go out and party, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a little happy hour at home. Try mixing yourself up a few drinks and binge some Netflix.


Tom Collins

Have you seen Tom Collins? Plus 5 classic Tom Collins cocktail ...

Everybody’s either had a Tom Collins before, or you recognize the name. Either way, this easy to make drink is a staple in bars, and it’s always a great go-to drink if you’re looking for something easy to whip up.

Ingredients:

2 ounces gin

3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

3/4 ounce simple syrup

Combine the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well for about 20 seconds. Strain into a glass with ice and enjoy.


Whiskey Sour

Another true classic is the whiskey sour. It’s simple in nature and goes down smooth. We’re adding this one back to back with the Tom Collins because all you do is change one ingredient to make this drink.

Ingredients:

2 ounces bourbon

3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

3/4 ounce simple syrup

Combine the bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well for about 20 seconds. Strain into a glass with ice and enjoy.


Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned may seem a little intimidating if you’ve never made one before, but it’s really not bad, and the finished product is worth it every time.

Ingredients:

1 sugar cube or 1/2 ounce of simple syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

1 and 1/2 ounces bourbon or Rye whiskey

Orange peel

Cherry for garnish

Place sugar cube or simple syrup in a glass and saturate with bitters, then add a dash of water. Mix until dissolved, or if you’re using syrup just stir until mixed. Fill the glass with bourbon or Rye whiskey. Garnish with an orange peel and a cherry then enjoy.


Minimalist Margarita

Who doesn’t love a good marg? Once this whole pandemic blows over, you might be inviting all your friends over and mixing up these easy and delicious margaritas.

2 ounces tequila

1 ounce fresh lime juice

1/2 ounce agave syrup or simple syrup

Combine tequila, lime juice and syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice and shake for at least 10 seconds. You can salt the rim of your glass if you want or just strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!


White Russian

The White Russian Cocktail

This is one of those recipes that we usually just eyeball the measurements (especially after the third or fourth one), but if you want to make a traditional White Russian, then grab your best bath robe and sunglasses and enjoy this timeless classic made popular by The Big Lebowski.

2 oz vodka

1 oz Kahlua

Milk or heavy cream

Combine the vodka, Kahlua and milk or cream in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well for 10 seconds then strain into an ice-filled glass. Spice it up with some cocoa powder or chocolate flakes for garnish too!
