It’s almost our favorite time of the year! That’s right, St. Paddy’s Day is two weeks away, and what better way to get ready for it than by counting down some of the best Irish restaurants and pubs in Tampa! Bonus points to anybody that can manage to stumble their way to each of the bars all on St. Paddy’s Day!
Four Green Fields
This may just be the most authentic Irish pub(s) in Tampa. If you’re looking for an Irish pub that will make you feel like you’ve teleported straight to Ireland, then this is the place. If you’re a die-hard fish and chips person, or if you just love any Irish food, this place will not disappoint! Plus, friendly bartenders, and good drink specials makes this a place that everyone should try out. You can visit them at their original location in Hyde Park, or their newer location right in Curtis Hixon Park.
James Joyce Irish Pub
What happens when you combine Ybor City with an Irish pub? You get this place. With all the best qualities of Ybor City and an Irish pub, James Joyce Irish Pub is a standout, not just on our list, but in Ybor City in general. With a slightly less authentic feel than some other pubs, it’s got enough great food, drinks and staff to keep us coming back time and time again. Make sure to check out there huge selection of beers, and try out some of their other specialties like their breakfast shot!
Maloney’s Local Irish Pub
It’s no secret how much we love Maloney’s. We’ve talked about them in some of our previous articles as well, but this list wouldn’t be complete without them on it! Maloney’s is one of our favorite places to go to watch football, hockey, or anything else honestly. The layout of the bar is great, the bartenders are some of our favorite in Tampa, and as with most Irish pubs, the food is outstanding. This is one of the Irish pubs where you can enjoy a slightly more Americanized menu if you’re not the Irish food type. So stop in to watch a game, and have a burger or some wings, and you will not be disappointed!
If you’re looking for a spot where you can dress up a little bit, but still enjoy some delicious Irish food, then Irish 31 is uniquely suited for you. When we think about Irish pubs, generally the first things that come to mind are shepherds pie, fish and chips, scotch eggs, etc. Odds are you’re probably picturing the exact same foods we are. This place takes those food items and makes them all just a little bit fancier. The food and drinks are still great, but this is also the type of place you can take your co-workers to for dinner after work. Plus, with two locations (one in Hyde Park and the other attached to Westshore mall) it’s a great spot for lunch meetings or anything in that vein.
Pj Dolans Irish Pub & Grille
This last entry is for all the USF people out there. You may have frequented it while at school, or you may have come and gone without ever even knowing about it. This spot doesn’t seem like much from the outside, but this is one of the best Irish pubs you could ever visit. With some unique twists on classic Irish food, and a great selection of beer, this spot is a can’t miss. All of the pubs on the list have live music at some point in the week as well, but this place has some of the best by far. So whether you’re stopping in for a drink, enjoying dinner, or just hanging out for the music, this place will blow you away.
Did we miss any of your favorite Irish pubs/restaurants? If so, let us know! We’re always checking out new places. Plus, if you check out some of these places and love them, then come back and let us know about that too! Check back next week for another St Paddy’s themed article!
